Does Windows Fundamentals include the Blue Screen of Death?
:)
Personally I'd be sticking with the supplied OS... at least until someone gets OS X Fundamentals running on the EeePC.
Hmmm. Good question. I don't know of anyone unfortunate enough to confirm that though.
OS X Fundamentals - now that is a challenging thought. Hopefully there will be takers. Let's see.
You wouldn't happen to be Steve Jobs by any chance. ;)
Hi vito,
Do you mean the fake Steve or the real one? :)
What's the difference? :P
Hmmm. I guess I can safely say I have met one but I haven't met the other one. :)
No I'm not Steve Jobs.
I'm Steve Ballmer ;-)
Hi steve,
That explains everything!
The first part of your opening comment shows concern for WinFLP compatibility.
The second part throws a mission impossible challenge
:) j/k
Hi Steve! I'm having trouble... I can't seem to select a drive, ANY drive for the source path (BartPE/WinPE). HELP???? XD I feel like a total idiot.
Hi Ashley,
Can you please provide more details?
Are you using BartPE or WinPE? Those two are different products. The former is a freeware while the latter is an official MS product.
If you are using BartPE, it will ask you for the Path to Windows Installation files, you enter the full path to your source files here, including the drive. E.g. E:\winxp\winxp.
Hope this helps.
To be honest, I have no idea what they are. I'm just trying to find a path, ANY path, that will let the "ok" button light up. I'll try again... XD Windows is more my thing, and I've never messed with Linux before getting my asus, lol.
Hi Ashley,
I guess it all depends on what you want to do. But personally I find the pre-installed Xandros just fine. I had initially planned on installing Windows XP, too. But so far, I am contented with Xandros. I can surf and email just fine. But then I haven't had the chance to really play with the unit. We will see.
Hey there. Windows fundamentals didn't install for me. I keep getting a "System Disk Not Found" error message when I try to pick a destination partition for the install. Am I suppose to format the HD before I go through the install?
Hi gregory,
Kindly provide more details. Are you trying to install Windows Fundamentals on the Asus Eee PC? You mentioned about formatting the hard drive - the Asus Eee PC does not have any hard drive.
At any rate, if you are installing to a fresh hard drive, the answer is yes, you need to define and create a partition first.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your response. No no, I do realize it doesn't have an actal hard-drive, but yes, I'm attempting a Win Fund install on my Eee. I read on another board that this problem doesn't occur when installing XP, but that also failed. I get a strange error saying I'm missing a ~Bt\biosinfo.inf file (error code 18). My next move is to try creating a boot disc to partition a ntfs drive and reattempt win fund. Is this the right direction? Any suggestions on creating the windows partition? Partition Magic?
Thanks again and happy T-day,
Greg
Hi, Gregory,
I also get the error:
\$WIN_NT$.~BT\biosinfo.inf not found error code 18
Do you already have the fix? Thanks!
Sorry, I don't. I broke down and bought a cheap external CD drive. XP installed flawlessly through that method. With all respect, the instructions on this page tend to show the obvious while leaving out very important details. It can lead to false impressions for those looking to buy an Eee. I'm still happy with it. Great little machine.
HI im,
Let me see if I can try to replicate the error code and get back to you.
I used a different method, more info here:

No problems with windows flp plus i have the added bonus of have a usb powered cd drive
